Intro
My name is Clay Reddick and I currently reside in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I grew up in the Jonesboro area and I attended Brookland Public Schools and graduated in 2014. I completed my B.S. in Computer Science at Arkansas State University in three years and finished top of my class as Magna Cum Laude. While I was attending college, I was selected to work in the ABI- Arkansas Biosciences Institute to work on a programming project for Dr. Dalmo Vieira that focused on the research of predicting and modeling erosion within a plot of land. While working for this position I heavily used C++, Python, Javascript, HTML, and CSS. C++ was used for our backend in a project known as RUSLE2. We then used SWIG to convert this project to python where I used PyQt to create a front-end application used for viewing the created models. I considered continuing my education and gaining a Masters in Computer Science, but I felt it was time to enter the field and gain hands-on work experience. I was hired by Tech Friends, a company located in Jonesboro, AR, that develops software and hardware solutions for jails. I am an active team member and leader in my current role as a software developer for Tech Friends. In my current position I mainly focus on .Net development using C#, VB.Net, Asp.Net, and Windows Forms. However, I still actively use Python in my day to day activities for automation scripts and supplementary tools. I have also done some free-lance work where I developed a computer application for the Brookland School District. The application imported all of their senior composite pictures and allowed them to be viewed and searched for by the end user. Click here to view my skills and experience.
The reason I feel software development is such a rewarding field is because it is always evolving and it continues to challenge me daily. One must continue to learn and grow with the field and this is what intrigues me. I need to be challenged and I want to grow in my knowledge. I enjoy working in an environment where you can work independently, but also work as a team to complete a project.
